Hub Ride 2009 Testimonials  Back to Top

"A Hubawesome ride!
I was the novice rider we should have been afraid of. Until a month before the ride my bike (a decent bike, but not a road bike) had been in the basement for 2 years straight. If this wasn't bad enough, 2 years ago I did a 30-mile ride and therefore was bound and determined to ride the 25-mile course. Fortunately, I learned the difference between flat course and our course before the ride and opted for the 14-mile on the day of the ride.
The ride itself was wonderful-appropriately challenging (though I don't normally ride, I am pretty fit, and like my exercise TOUGH), shady (important on the slightly warm day), and a most of all a beautiful tour of the rolling pastures. Best of all was the community, the friendly expert riders - many rode 50 miles that day - to the children with training wheels on the 4 mile. A lovely lunch, music, and a fantastic massage-I can't wait for next year, maybe I'll be ready for the 25!"

"There were plenty of riders and a number took off early to complete the 2 laps making 50 miles. Everything was organized and in order with plenty of great volunteers as usual at a MHC event. I had run over the route on Google Earth and knew there were quite a few hills, and this is the middle of summer. But with the half way stop at Mt. Zion Rd., there was little chance of bonking even in the heat, and I was carrying plenty of water and coffee (and bagels, there was a bunch of good stuff in the registration tent.) We neared the end, climbing the hills on Isom Road that lead to the blind valley where the scenic Sparks farm can be seen from the hills along the road. A final climb out of the valley led to another speedy down hill on Isom. We took the left on Eller, crossed the highway, and climbed Reese hill a dropped onto Garrison Chapel Road. We took that to Airport, climbed that one last hill, and coasted back to Karst Farm Park and some food and music to finish off the ride."
